Alright, I was going to wait until after the baby came to post about the nursery. However, someone told me maybe that's why she hasn't come yet and I'm ready to try everything (and I pretty much have - I'm going to attempt a light jog later - ha ha) to get this labor started. I know it's not even my due date yet but I'm anxious...Plus, I stopped going to work this week and have some extra time on my hands. Oh and don't worry, I will eventually get pictures in the frames...
So as I said in a previous post, I based the nursery off of the quilt that my Mom and Grandma gave to me.

The first thing Doug and I did was paint. Unfortunately, what we chose to do to took me a LONG time to actually like. The pink was too bright, the white was too bright, I didn't know if I liked the green molding, it was all very BRIGHT. But now that I've decorated everything and it has all come together I love it.
First off, we got this old dresser from one of my cousins. It was pretty beat up but we thought we would just take it and paint...BEFORE in all of it's gold beauty

And AFTER...with the first glimpse of the paint and decorations for the whole nursery. I really loved how the dresser turned out using just simple white and adding some new handles. It looks great up next to the bright pink walls

One of the cute decorations I made using left over fabric from the quilt and my favorite craft store - Wood Connection

Next to the dresser is our glider that we found. I love the dark wood. We actually had a white book shelf in its place until we found the glider. Replacing the white book shelf with the dark wood glider was my first step in actually liking the nursery. After we added that we realized we had the little book shelf in the exact same wood color that my brother had given to us. AND we originally had a different crib that we borrowed but we decided to buy a new one just a couple of weeks ago and they (the crib and changing table) also match perfectly! I'm also planning on adding a name on top of the bookshelf but since we haven't decided what our little girl's name is that is going to have to wait until after the hospital.

The wall decor here was also made from extra fabric from the quilt and Wood Connection decorations. I love how this turned out!

The crib

And the changing table
So as I said, it took me a while to like but I love it now! Now I just need a baby - hopefully that will be my next post
Love it! So so cute. She can come any time now. Hello you aren't working and we aren't hanging out? Not ok. Let's do something tomorrow (Tuesday) ok? I will call you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. The lower paint and trim are so fun and all your wall decor is so cute. It's nice to have it all done before the baby comes because after the baby comes you'll be too tired. I also see you got the diaper pail - nice.
ReplyDeleteThe nursery looks great Les! Can't wait until you get to actually use it! You will be a great Mom! Keep us updated! I hope she comes soon!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I so wish we could paint in James' room...hate renting :)
