Baby Story

So we went to a wedding reception the other night and I was told by a couple of different people that they were waiting to hear my birth story from the day I had Molly. I didn't know that this is something people wait for :) so I'll quickly tell you the story. I'm only four weeks late :) Haley and Rachelle this is for you...

My due date was Wednesday, October 19th. That evening I started feeling what I thought were painful contractions. They went away after about an hour, bummer. For the next two days I kept feeling contractions but nothing too consistent.

Friday night we had our annual Pumpkin Carving contest at our friends house. I started feeling slightly more painful contractions then. I told Doug on the way home that for the first time I was kind of scared for labor. He asked why and I said "because the contractions I've been feeling tonight kind of hurt, what if they get worse?" Oh man, did they get worse!

Saturday morning at 2am I woke up and had contractions about 6-10 mins apart until about 4am. Man those hurt! Then it got worse when they were 3-5 mins apart from 4am to 5am. My doc told me to come in if I have 5 min contractions for an hour. So at 5am I woke Doug up (he had been awake off and on the whole time) and we drove to the hospital. I was admitted at 5:45am and dilated to a 6! They told me I came in at the perfect time (thank goodness they didn't send me home)! I received my epidural at 6:30am and the rest was smooth sailing (kind of) after that. I got stuck for a while at an 8 and then at 12pm my doctor came in and said alright let's go! Pushed for an hour and out came my beautiful little girl.

All in all labor wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, it was still hard work and it wasn't a walk in the park, but after the epidural the only tough part was pushing and I was so glad it only lasted an hour! I had kind of been prepping myself for one of those first time mom 24 hour labors with 3 hours of pushing so to only be in the hospital in labor for 8 hours was not awful.

Welp, hope you enjoyed the story! Here is my favorite picture right now just for fun
